Kim

My name is Kim and I have 9 year old twin boys and a 5 year old daughter. I am a stay at home mom. I spend a lot of my time volunteering, both at my children’s school and in community organizations. I grew up in the southwest suburbs and we moved to the Barrington area 10 years ago due to my husband’s job.

I have been consigning since the beginning of Growing Cents of Style! I have participated in all of the sales, which I believe is now #16. For the most part it takes me a few weeks to prepare for the sale, but I am sorting clothes all year long. When my children have outgrown a piece of clothing I place it in either the "GCOS" bin or the donation bin.

My tips for consigning are: 1) Do not wait until the last week to get started tagging. If you do a little bit at a time over a month or two it will be much less stressful. 2) Make your prices competitive. Use the guidelines that GCOS has on their website. 3) Make outfits with the clothes you are selling. For example, I will combine a shirt with a pair of jeans/khakis or I will add a sweater to a dress instead of selling them individually.
